BBC pundit admits and apologies to nottingham forest
Glenn Murray has claimed that Nottingham Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo has already proved him wrong. The Portuguese boss has claimed two wins over Newcastle and Manchester United over the festive period.
Forest were brilliant throughout both games under Espirito Santo. In truth, they were hard done by against Bournemouth when a ridiculous decision from referee Rob Jones left them down to 10 men for over an hour.
Espirito Santo replaced Steve Cooper at Forest last month and Murray admitted he had reservations. Now, he’s in no doubt that Forest made the right call and has lauded the new head coach for the impact he’s made at the club.
Murray admits he was wrong about Forest head coach
It may only be three games in charge for Espirito Santo at Forest but so far the signs are good. Beating Newcastle and Manchester United should give the team confidence and Murray admits he’s been impressed.
He said on the Monday Night Club podcast: “I must say that when they got rid of Steve Cooper I did wonder about them. I did feel that under Steve Cooper they would be safe in the Premier League and I thought he did a fantastic job.
“I think you’ve got to be careful what you wish for with Nottingham Forest and where you want to go because for me the second season is often the hardest in the Premier League.
“But, I have to say, Nuno appears to have proven my theory wrong, he’s settled in very well and he’s offered a little bit more than Steve Cooper was, certainly going forward.”
Work still to do for Espirito Santo
Fair play to the new manager. To come in and lift the spirits like he has is a testament to the man and it’s exciting times to be a Forest fan right now. However, there is still work to do and losing several players to the African Cup of Nations will be a challenge for Forest head coach Espirito Santo
Espirito Santo has done plenty of good things since he came to the club. He’s handed Gonzalo Montiel a reprieve, whilst he’s also given Morgan Gibbs-White a free role through the middle of the Forest attack.
There is, however, work to do for the Forest boss. Espirito Santo knows that his team are only five points clear of the relegation zone and that still leaves Forest with work to do.
The gaffer will be leaving no stone unturned, however. Although his work at Forest will forever be remembered, the fan base will very quickly forget about Cooper if this form continues.
