NetSport’s George is reporting that Newcastle have been in talks with Nottingham Forest regarding a potential swap deal involving Anthony Elanga and Elliot Anderson.

The Telegraph and The Athletic have shared similar news, only they claim that Yankuba Minteh has also been discussed as a player that could join the City Ground in a part-exchange involving Elanga; who is valued at £22m by Transfermarkt.

Newcastle are really restricted by PSR and face a penalty if we fail to sell by the end of play tomorrow, which explains shock exit links for Anthony Gordon and Alexander Isak over the past 24 hours.

The different with selling Anderson, however, is that it would be pure profit as he is an academy player. While it may not be ideal to move him on, we all know that someone is going to have to leave and we have several options on the left in Joelinton, Willock, Gordon and Barnes.

Downie reports that Eddie Howe is a big fan of Elanga, who tore Newcastle apart at St James’ Park on Boxing Day as Forest won the game 3-1, and he’s keen on adding the Swede to add additional depth to our attack.

Howe does not want to sell Anderson, who was very unfortunate to have been injured for a large part of last season, though it’s not quite clear how much he’d play this season given the strength we have in midfield.
