Sky Sports’ Keith Downie has issued an update on Newcastle’s United’s interest in out-of-contract duo Tosin Adarabioyo and Lloyd Kelly.

Despite reports on Wednesday stating we were ‘closing in’ on Adarabioyo, Downie reveals that Bournemouth’s Kelly is currently ‘more likely’ to sign out of the two, as things stand.

The North-East reporter claims we are facing competition from two other Premier League clubs and for Tosin, with AC Milan also keen, while Kelly has interest from Monaco, Milan, Juventus and a number of other top flight sides as he prepares to also leave on a free.

Downie adds that both players are ‘keeping their options open’, suggesting no decisions have been made as of yet on their next move, with movement expected once the season ends later this month.

Newcastle are in the market for centre-backs following ACL injuries to Jamaal Lascelles and Sven Botman, meaning two could arrive this summer.

With Tosin and Kelly both offering Premier League experience, value for money and options on the left and right side of centre-back, it makes a lot of sense to target both. But, as ever with ‘free’ transfers, there’ll be plenty of competition and possible twists and turns if interested parties offer lucrative contracts and hefty signing on fees.

Fabrizio Romano has also issued an update on Tosin (see below), insisting it is ‘still not a done deal’ despite ongoing interest from Newcastle. He reports that the 26-year-old is ‘considering several options’ and is yet to decide on his next move.
