Newcastle United are set to battle with Arsenal for the signature of Crystal Palace star Marc Guehi, reports suggest.

The 25-year-old has impressed at club level under new manager Oliver Glasner, enough to earn a spot in Gareth Southgate’s 26-man England squad for EURO 2024.

Guehi impressed in the Three Lions opening game of the tournament against Serbia where he played 90 minutes and kept a clean sheet.

According to CaughtOffside, both Newcastle and Arsenal are interested in ringing the England international in this summer and are both expected to make opening bids in the near future.

It is understood that Palace value Guehi at £50million, but the initial thought is that could be out of both clubs’ price range

The 25-year-old played 25 Premier League games for the Eagles last season, but missed a lengthy period of the season with a knee injury.

Guehi only played three games under new manager Glasner at the helm but made an impact in all of them.

He made his return in the 4-0 win against Manchester United and featured in their 3-1 win at Wolves before starting as a defensive midfielder in the 5-0 win against Aston Villa on the last day of the season.

Chelsea, the club where he began his career reportedly has a significant sell-on clause that Palace will be aware of.
