The Yorkshire Evening Post journalist reported [20 August] that Leeds have taken a look at the 25-year-old winger but were informed that he is unavailable

Daniel Farke’s side has now sold both Crysencio Summerville and Georginio Rutter since making their last signing – Jayden Bogle last month – leaving the Whites out of depth in multiple positions.

Leeds United approach Feyenoord for Calvin Stengs

Calvin Stengs - Player profile 24/25 | Transfermarkt

Stengs experienced a very successful 2023/24 campaign in the Eredivisie, notching six goals and 12 assists in 29 appearances, having only joined Feyenoord last summer.

The 25-year-old attacker, who is capable of deputising as an attacking midfielder or a right-winger, has even won eight caps for the Netherlands, scoring three goals in that time.

With experience across the Netherlands with AZ Alkmaar and Feyenoord, Stengs has the potential to take the place of either Summerville or Rutter, and Farke will be desperate for a new player through the door.

However, with Feyenoord’s stance quite clear already, Leeds will need to step up their efforts for alternatives if they are to sign multiple attackers before the summer transfer window closes.

While Dan James and Wilfried Gnonto are capable of occupying the wings, the squad at Elland Road is lacking depth, especially now after Rutter’s £40million move to Brighton

Time is ticking for Farke and his team to get deals done, and with clubs very aware of their financial windfall from the sales of Rutter, Summerville and Archie Gray, those transfers will not come easy.

The Whites have left themselves in an awful position with just 10 days of the transfer window remaining, and Stengs is just another player that the hierarchy can cross off their list of potential signings.
