Bolton Wanderers are in need of a big summer following their 8th-place finish in the campaign concluding.

BWFC, having been defeated at Wembley by Oxford United in the 2023/24 League One play-off final predominantly spent the season outside of the play-offs with manager Ian Evatt eventually succumbing to the pressure of the fans for their side’s regression from the campaign prior.

Steven Schumacher was appointed as Trotters manager at the end of January but was unable to steer the side into the play-offs.

Bolton Wanderers have been busy already in Schumacher’s quest to take them back to the Championship by releasing club captain Ricardo Santos, defender Gethin Jones and both goalkeepers Nathan Baxter and Joel Coleman.

Incomings are also expected with Schumacher’s sights now set on out of contract Walsall midfielder Jamie Jellis amidst interest elsewhere from Blackpool and Wycombe Wanderers, according to The Bolton News.

Jellis, who’s season is yet to be completed as Walsall are in action in the League Two play-offs, has worked his way to the Football League. The 24-year-old has spent the majority of his career so far bouncing around different non-league outfits including being part of the Tamworth side that achieved back to back promotions to the National League having started his career at Aylesbury United.

The midfielder has scored seven and assisted two in all competitions this season for the Saddlers having accumulated over 3,700 minutes for Matt Sadler’s side this season.
