Ipswich Town sign Leif Davis from Leeds United | News - Greatest Hits Radio (Ipswich & Suffolk)

The left-back played under Marcelo Bielsa at Leeds, and almost every player in Bielsa’s squad was unbelievably fit and strong

The likes of Kalvin Phillips, Mateusz Klich and even Stuart Dallas were all incredible athletes, but according to Davis, the best runner he’s ever seen is a current Leeds player.

Speaking to netsport reporters the Ipswich star says that Archie Gray is the best runner he has ever seen, praising the Leeds wonderkid for his incredible engine.

Gray a fantastic athlete

The left-back spoke about the Leeds star.

“He was still in school when I was with him but I thought he was my age when I trained with him, he was so comfortable when he came in with the lads, it was mental. An athlete as well, the best runner I’ve ever seen, he’s going to the top, 100%” Davis said.

Scary

It’s truly scary the fact that Gray is being spoken about in this way because he’s just 17 years old.

At the age of 17, he’s already leaps and bounds above many of his peers physically, and he’s only going to improve on that front.

Indeed, as he plays more and grows stronger, Gray will become more and more dominant, and he should be able to reach the very top of the game as Davis suggests.

In modern football, there are very few attributes more important than speed and stamina, and Gray has an abundance of both.

Leeds are very lucky to have Gray in their squad at the moment, and it’s truly exciting to ponder what this young man could end up doing with his career over the next two decades.

Gray will have a huge part to play if Leeds are to be promoted to the Premier League this season.
