So, what has been reported about Nottingham Forest and Divock Origi? Let’s take a look.
Divock Origi could leave Nottingham Forest
Well, according to NetSPORT.uk, Nottingham Forest could terminate the loan deal of Divock Origi.
Forest signed the former Liverpool striker on a season-long loan deal from AC Milan in the summer of 2023.
The Reds have the option to make the loan deal permanent, but, according to talkSPORT, the Premier League club are “unlikely to activate their buy option, and could part ways with the Belgium international in January”.
Clubs in Major League Soccer are interested in the 28-year-old striker, who won the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League with Liverpool before leaving for AC Milan in the summer of 2022.
Origi has made two starts and seven substitute appearances in the Premier League for Forest this season. He has not scored a goal or given an assist. I have to note that he has had injury problems.
My View: Nottingham Forest made a mistake signing Divock Origi
In my view, Nottingham Forest made a big mistake signing Divock Origi in the summer of 2023. Yes, I know that it was only a loan deal, but I do not think that Forest should have brought the £87,000-a-week (SalarySport) striker to the City Ground.
Origi is a cult hero at Liverpool who scored important goals for the Merseyside club in the Premier League and the UEFA Champions League. But, the Belgium international was never prolific for Jurgen Klopp’s side.
The striker scored 22 goals and gave six assists in 116 appearances in the Premier League. He scored two goals and provided one assist in 10 starts and 17 substitute appearances in Serie A for AC Milan last season.
