Revealed: Tottenham Deal collapse After New Talk

Tottenham Hotspur’s January move for Chelsea midfielder Conor Gallagher has collapsed, sources have told Football Insider.

Speaking to the new edition of Football Insider’s Inside Track Podcast, transfer correspondent Pete O’Rourke revealed that Chelsea now want to keep the England international for the remainder of the season despite recent talks between the clubs.

It is believed that Tottenham are now looking to complete a deal for Gallagher in the summer with Ange Postecoglou remaining very keen on landing the central midfielder.

A well-placed source told Football Insider that Gallagher’s long-term future at Stamford Bridge is “up in the air”, which could open the door for Spurs to make a swoop in the summer.

Chelsea would want a huge fee for the academy graduate and any sale would be pure profit on their books – a major boost for their Financial Fair Play obligations.

Spurs remain hopeful of securing one more player this month after the permanent addition of Radu Dragusin from Genoa and the loan signing of Timo Werner from RB Leipzig.

Now, they have prioritised a deal for a central midfielder and remain active in pursuing other targets.

As revealed by Football Insider (13 January), Man City midfielder Kalvin Phillips is on Tottenham’s target list and would cost a loan fee between £5-6million.

Tottenham sit fifth in the Premier League table after their 2-2 draw against Man United on Sunday (14 January) and are next in action against Man City in the FA Cup on 26 January.

Chelsea are ninth after three consecutive wins and next face Middlesbrough in the second leg of the EFL Cup semi-final on Tuesday (23 January).

In other news, Sources: Tottenham will now let three more senior stars leave this month.
