Werner revealed what Romero stated during spurs team meeting
Cristian Romero captained Spurs to a 2-2 draw at Old Trafford last weekend in the absence of Heung-Min Son.
The Argentine was named as one of Ange Postecoglou’s vice-captains over the summer after Harry Kane’s departure. James Maddison is the other deputy but with the Englishman currently sidelined, Romero led his side out on Sunday.
Tottenham have a new routine before away games this season where the players huddle in front of the travelling supporters before the game.
This meant that it was down to Romero to say a few words before kick-off at Old Trafford and Timo Werner shared what was said just moments before the game.

Speaking to Spurs Play, Werner reflected on his debut for Tottenham where he grabbed an assist in the 2-2 draw at Man United.
The forward was then asked what Romero said to his Spurs teammates just moments before kick-off.
“He said we should enjoy and to keep playing our football, it doesn’t matter what’s coming and I think that’s what we did,” the Tottenham forward said.
Despite his obvious disciplinary issues, Romero has emerged as a real leader in this current Tottenham side.
The Argentine was flawless during the opening 10 games of the campaign and led by example from the back.
Of course, he was sent off in the 4-1 defeat to Chelsea in early November which led to him missing three games at the worst possible time for Spurs. But after picking up a hamstring injury against Everton last month, he returned with a commanding display at United.
Tottenham will be relying on Romero’s leadership qualities over the coming weeks, with Son currently at the Asian Cup with South Korea.
It feels like an ideal opportunity for the 25-year-old to show he is ready to provide a cool head in Postecoglou’s side.
Spurs won’t want Romero to lose that edge to his game as his aggressive style of defending is a huge asset to them. But it’s no secret that Romero needs to display more control at times and having the armband for a few weeks will place extra responsibility on his shoulders.
