Nottingham forest 26-year-old resumes grass training
Nottingham Forest striker Taiwo Awoniyi looks to be edging closer to a return to action after posting some progress on Instagram.
Taiwo Awoniyi shares positive Instagram post
Well, it would appear as though the player is on the mend and he could be back in action in a matter of weeks.
Awoniyi, 26, hasn’t played for Forest since injuring himself during a 3-2 defeat to West Ham in November – a game in which he scored.
Awoniyi has now posted some footage of himself on Instagram and it appears that he’s back on the training ground.
The star man has scored four goals so far this season and Forest would dearly love to have him back wreaking havoc.
Awoniyi has a new manager to impress and yesterday Forest head coach Nuno Espirito Santo had a little update on the player.
He told Nottinghamshire Live: “The last information we had is that he is progressing. He is already training on the pitch doing some individual work. Hopefully, in two weeks he can start joining the group.”
Forest will welcome Awoniyi back to the fold
With Espirito Santo utilising a 4-2-3-1 since he came to the club, Awoniyi could really start to cook under the head coach.
The physical presence of Awoniyi has been missed in recent months by Forest and he will bring a new dimension to the team.
Awoniyi scored 11 times during the 2022/23 campaign and it represented a solid maiden campaign in English football.
The challenge for Forest is to manage Awoniyi and try desperately to keep him fit.
A Nigerian international, Awoniyi should be capable of thriving under the new management team and his latest Instagram post is definitely an exciting update from the striker.
