Everyone at Tottenham desired a player worth £40 million to join the team.
Agreeing on transfers at Tottenham Hotspur mustn’t be an easy task.
Spurs have so many key recruitment figures at the club right now, and it would be very easy for them all to be pulling in different directions at times.
Ange Postecoglou, Daniel Levy, Johan Lange, Scott Munn and even Fabio Paratici all have a say on what’s going on at Spurs right now.
All of these are strong-willed individuals, so getting them all to agree on something isn’t an easy task.
However, for all the signings Spurs have made as of late, there was one player who was unanimously agreed upon as a target.
Indeed, speaking on The Spurs Chat Podcast, Ryan Taylor says that while it’s hard to pinpoint exactly who is having the biggest influence at Spurs right now, everyone at the club was in agreement over the signing of James Maddison.
Everyone agreed on Maddison signing
Taylor spoke about the £40m man.
“It’s hard to gauge who is having the biggest influence. It’s well-documented that Paratici is working for the club on a consultancy basis, he’s had an influence on a lot of these signings including Vicario. James Maddison is a household name across the Premier Legaue and internally he’s a player that Spurs were in total agreement with across the hierarchy that they wanted to bring him to the club,” Taylor said.
No-brainer
It’s not a surprise to hear that everyone at Tottenham was in agreement over the signing of Maddison. This was a no-brainer of a signing at a bargain fee.
Maddison cost Spurs just £40m this summer, that’s an incredible price for a player who had proven himself at the top level for years.
Spurs needed a creator this summer, and there really aren’t many better out there than Maddison.
It’s not an exaggeration to say that Maddison may well have been the signing of the summer in the Premier League.
