pundit in disbelief after what 27-year-old Tottenham player did
Clinton Morrison has expressed his disbelief after being told just how often Timo Werner was flagged offside during his Chelsea career as the forward made his Tottenham Hotspur debut on Sunday.
Timo Werner was a surprise addition to Ange Postecoglou’s ranks at the start of the January transfer window. The Germany international has arrived on loan from RB Leipzig, with Tottenham having an option to make his move permanent in the summer.

And with Dejan Kulusevski ill for Sunday’s trip to Old Trafford, Werner was thrown straight into the starting lineup against Manchester United.
Werner was bright for much of the game, setting up Rodrigo Bentancur for his second-half equaliser in the 2-2 draw. It was an encouraging performance from the 27-year-old.
Of course, he will feel that he has something of a point to prove after a difficult period at Chelsea. Werner never quite managed to live up to expectations during his time at Stamford Bridge.
And one of his big issues was staying onside. In fact, it was reported on BBC Radio Five Live on Sunday (broadcast on 14/1; 16:55) that Werner had seen 16 goals ruled out for offside. And he was personally caught off 38 times in 56 league games for the Blues.
Speaking on commentary during the game, Clinton Morrison could only express his disbelief at that statistic.
“Oh my god, are you serious? Oh wow, I did not know that. Wow,” he said.
Still worth the gamble for Spurs
The worry for Tottenham fans will be that Werner hardly set the world alight upon his return to Germany. Obviously, that was a key reason why he has got the green light to leave on loan.
But that does present an opportunity. Paul Merson believes Werner could be an amazing signing for Tottenham if he can learn to time his runs correctly. And it is fair to say that Spurs have hardly taken a huge risk by signing him.
