How is this possible Gary Neville stunned at spurs
Pundit Gary Neville has been left stunned after seeing the strength of the squad Tottenham Hotspur are building under Ange Postecoglou.
Tottenham will feel a little disappointed to have only left Old Trafford with a point on Sunday.
Ange Postecoglou took his Tottenham side to face Manchester United and saw his side go 1-0 down early on through Rasmus Hojlund‘s goal.
Tottenham battled back with a Richarlison leveller, only for Marcus Rashford to fire United back in front before the break.
Spurs just don’t lie down under Postecoglou though and levelled it again just moments into the second half with Rodrigo Bentancur finding the net.
Tottenham dominated possession but just couldn’t find a winner without the likes of Son Heung-min, James Maddison and Dejan Kulusevski.
Gary Neville stunned by Tottenham Hotspur squad
Tottenham could have won that game on another day but pundit and former United defender Gary Neville still loves what he is seeing from Spurs.
Neville spoke on the Gary Neville Podcast on Sunday and found himself raving about the Tottenham squad.
Neville highlighted that Tottenham will soon get the likes of Son, Kulusevki, Maddison, Yves Bissouma and Pape Matar Sarr back in action.
Add in recent signings Timo Werner and Radu Dragusin alongside successful signings like Guglielmo Vicario, Destiny Udogie, Pedro Porro and Micky van de Ven and you start to see an exciting squad with room to grow.
Neville noted the strong recruitment and returning players, suggesting that Tottenham have suddenly built an impressive squad.
Neville feels that Tottenham could really ascend in the final stages of the season, praising their style of play, high-potential or proven-quality players across the pitch and the impact of boss Postecoglou.
“It looks like Spurs now, if you think of those three players – Son, Kulusevski and Maddison – coming back in, if they can just stay in there, which they will do, I think, for the next few weeks, they get all that squad together… with those defenders, with Dragusin coming in, you look at them now and you think all of a sudden ‘how has that happened? How have Spurs got that squad?’. Good recruitment and good coaching; you mix good recruitment with good coaching and all of a sudden, you’ve got a good football team.”
“Dragusin, Van de Ven and Romero, it looks like they’ve got three youngish centre halves, they’ve got two exciting full backs, they’ve got a really good goalkeeper, they’ll get the midfield back from the Africa Cup of Nations, and get those three forwards players back, they can really go like that towards the end of the season. They’re really good to watch, they’re so good to watch, they’ve got a lot going for them and the manager is a breath of fresh air and has completely changed the whole football club really, in terms of how its viewed externally, but also internally in terms of the impact he’s had on everybody,” he added.
Postecoglou has been simply incredible, completely changing the energy around the club and the playing style in just a few months.
The Australian has been forced to deal with injury after injury after suspension after injury after suspension and now a number of international call-ups.
Tottenham continue to play superb football and continue to pick up results, strengthening their case for Champions League qualification once again.
Tottenham also continue to recruit impressively in the transfer market, adding quality young players for Postecoglou to develop.
Neville probably wishes that United were recruiting in a similar way, with Spurs not only impressing right now but potentially setting themselves up for success down the line.
