SPURS TOLD ERIC DIER HAS ‘NO PLACE’ AT BAYERN MUNICH DESPITE JANUARY
Ashley Williams thinks Eric Dier has only left Tottenham Hotspur for Bayern Munich because of his ‘mate’ Harry Kane.
The former Wales international feels that there is ‘no place’ for Eric Dier to earn minutes at Bayern Munich and the reason for his January arrival is to appease his England captain in Germany.
Harry Kane left Tottenham Hotspur in the summer to join the Bundesliga giants. That move didn’t surprise many given that he is in search of trophies – and he has made a blistering start at his new club.
But Eric Dier, who has struggled for minutes under Ange Postecoglou at Spurs this season and has even been playing second fiddle to fullbacks, now finds himself playing for one of the biggest clubs in the world.
The 29-year-old will be pinching himself, but Ashley Williams made it clear that the £85k-a-week star will only get minutes in domestic cup competitions, as he told Vibe with Five.
Bayern Munich have a fight on their hands to win the Bundesliga title this season, with Bayer Leverkusen doing a madness under Xabi Alonso.
Added to the fact that they are one of the favourites to win the Champions League, so in that sense, Eric Dier has been thrown straight into the deep end.

“His mate is there,” said Williams on why Dier is at Bayern. “It’s the easy answer to that.
“He (Kane) probably prefers one (a mate) and they are tight them two. He has just said ‘bring my mate’. And they have gone ‘alright’. It’s that simple.
“There isn’t one person at Bayern Munich that has gone. ‘We need a centre-half scouting system. Who is on it? Oh, Eric Dier’. There is no place for Eric (in Bayern’s defence).
“I am pretty sure that Harry Kane and Eric Dier, the whole family are friends and everything – he will play a couple of games, no more and no less. He will play in the Carabao, their version. That’s it. Done!
“But what a move! I would never get that move if I didn’t have any friends.”

For years and years, both Kane and Dier were part of a Spurs side that was unbelievably good under the stewardship of Mauricio Pochettino.
From back to front, they had it all. They were exciting to watch and they made some very top business deals.
But the one thing they lacked was trophies. And now they can put all of that to bed.
There will never be a better time for Kane and Dier to lift some silverware because, if you aren’t going to do it in Munich, then you never really will ever do it.
