Newcastle United owners told price for Brazilian target

We’re approaching the halfway mark in the month and that means there is just over two weeks until the January

transfer window closes, with clubs starting to make their moves. Newcastle United have made it clear they have FFP to consider when doing any business, with the possibility of an exit from the club before any sort of permanent deals are done, if any are done at all.

One name being linked heavily with Newcastle is Atalanta midfielder Ederson Dos Santos Da Silva, or simply, Ederson. According top reports in Italy, Newcastle and Juventus are both leading the chance for a player that Atalanta don’t want to get rid of, not until the summer at least

However, the reports suggest a bid in the region of £30m this month could tempt the Italian club into selling one of their prized assets. Ederson is seen an ideal signing for Newcastle who are without Sandro Tonali until next season.

Good in a deep-lying defensive midfield position, he comes alive when allowed to drive the ball forward and is starting to earn the type of reputation that is likely to have many big clubs chasing him in the summer. Newcastle have also been linked with a loan deal for Manchester City’s Kalvin Phillips, but the prices involved in that transfer have so far proven to be a stumbling block to any sort of deal being agreed.

Elsewhere, Newcastle have been told to get a hurry on if they want to sign Swedish rising star Lucas Bergvall, who they were this week linked with. The 17-year-old who can play on the wing or as a number 10, made his debut for the Swedish A team this week, a game that was watched by a host of international scouts, with Barcelona and Inter MIlan also linked with showing an interest.
