Clinton Morrison has backed Crystal Palace playmaker Michael Olise to produce the goods at a club like Manchester United.

The former Crystal Palace striker says the 22-year-old is ‘way better’ than Manchester United’s struggling star Antony and he is in no doubt that he will leave Selhurst Park in the summer.

Clinton Morrison has backed Crystal Palace playmaker Michael Olise to produce the goods at a club like Manchester United.

Back in the summer, there was a lot of talk about Michael Olise’s future at Selhurst Park, but to the surprise of many, he signed a new contract instead.

That allowed Palace to keep hold of such a valuable figure to the team, especially with Wilfried Zaha heading to Galatasaray.

But it seems as though that contract was signed just to protect the value of the player because links to Manchester United have now emerged.

Clinton Morrison, who is good friends with Crystal Palace’s sporting director Dougie Freedman, says there is no chance of a January transfer, as he told Soccer Saturday on Netsport.uk (13/01/23 at 2:20 pm).

But he can see the ‘superstar’ Michael Olise making that move in the summer, in fact, he is confident that it will happen, as he putting his asking price on the table.

Michael Olise at Manchester United

“It’s a threat, but he isn’t going in January,” said Morrison about Olise’s links to Manchester United.

“Absolutely no chance Crystal Palace would let him go in January. No way! If you want to stay in the Premier League, you need the likes of Olise and Eze. He is the one who is scoring and creating goals, at the moment. You do need him.

“Listen, he is a superstar. This kid can be what he wants to be. Anyone of those top four teams will come knocking on Crystal Palace’s door. He has just signed a new contract.

“He would give Man United goals and assists – he can do whatever he wants. I think he is a fantastic player. He’s going to be top, top. I speak to Dougie Freedman about him a lot. It would cost big, big money to sign Olise. At least £60-70 million. He is still at a young age. I think he moves on in the summer, without a shadow of a doubt.

“He has got it all. If you want to do the comparisons with him and Antony. He is way better than Antony.”

Manchester United’s struggles in the final third

Aside from Bruno Fernandes, it’s fair to say that Man United are pretty bland in the final third with a lack of consistent action from a lot of players.

Marcus Rashford is back to struggling once again, Antony just isn’t good enough, whilst Alejandro Garnacho is showcasing real promise, but is still a teenager.

Someone like Olise, with his ice-cool nature and ability to create, would certainly elevate the team’s forward line.

But others would question why he would move to Man United given that it hasn’t been a good hunting ground for players to take their game to the next level.
