Alex Mighten the 21year old has today returned to Nottingham Forest

This has been confirmed by the club’s official website.

Following his return to the City Ground, some reports are already suggesting what the future might hold for Mighten. We’ve taken a closer look…

Mighten returns to Forest after disappointing loan spell

The 21-year-old made a pretty decent start to the Premier League 2 campaign and scored three goals in as many games.

That prompted Belgian top-flight outfit Kortrijk to take him on a six-month loan but things simply haven’t worked out.

He made 12 appearances for the club, without registering a goal contribution and now he’s back at Forest.

However, the man with 67 Forest appearances to his name might not want to get too settled back at the City Ground just yet.

Journalist George believes that Mighten could soon be heading back out on loan, with Forest keen to get him playing regular football.

In our view, Mighten doesn’t just need a club to sign for, he needs one that will play him where he’s best utilised.

With lightning pace and an abundance of skill, he needs to be playing on the flanks and that will surely come into the thinking of Forest when sifting through any potential offers.

Gary Brazil is a huge fan of Mighten and called the player ‘quality’ when he was heading up the academy at Forest.

Mighten has to think about permanent City Ground exit

At 21-years-old, the Forest academy graduate needs to be playing football on a regular basis for his development.

A loan move to Sheffield Wednesday didn’t bear any fruit last season, with Darren Moore often using him as a wing-back.

During his time in Belgium, he was used in several positions in the final third but only started four times.

Winning promotion to the top-flight has pretty much ended any chance of the youngster holding down a regular place in the team any time soon.

Mighten has a contract with Forest until 2025 and the longer the club stays in the Premier League the less likely that the forward will make the grade at the City Ground.

As a result, Mighten will surely be aware that his next move away from Forest could be a permanent one.
