surprise move to Tottenham as players are set to move to london
Two days ago, journalist Philipp Hinze reported Tottenham Hotspur were negotiating the final details with RB Leipzig over a deal for Timo Werner.
The forward has been with the Bundesliga side in Spain for the club’s winter break. On Sunday morning, they returned to Germany and he was on the plane.
That’s according to Bild, who state the 27-year-old won’t stay at Leipzig for long because of his impending move to Tottenham.
Leipzig have agreed a deal with Spurs and the latter have also negotiated contract details with Werner.
It’s claimed the Germany international ‘will soon travel’ to London to seal a loan move to Tottenham, who will take care of his full salary [€10m per year] during his temporary stay.
Bild state Ange Postecoglou’s side have a purchase option set at €20m, valid until the end of June. They add Tottenham first made contact last Wednesday and the talks progressed quickly since then, so much so that the operation is set to be concluded soon.
Leipzig technical director Mario Gómez has been speaking to Sport1 and they claim he has ‘indirectly confirmed’ the former Chelsea man’s loan move to Tottenham.
“It’s a win-win for everyone. Germany benefits from it. We benefit from this because we get a player going. He’ll play regularly, that’s what Tottenham have conveyed to us,” he said.
