21-year-old Forest player rated over manchester city star player

Nottingham Forest winger Anthony Elanga has been praised for his efforts on Saturday against Manchester United. The 21-year-old signed for Forest from the Red Devils during the summer to end his association with the giants.

Elanga has been in fine form for Forest since signing for £15 million. He’s now got 10 goal involvements during 2023/24 and he’s really thrived under regular game time at the City Ground.

Robbie Earle has been waxing lyrical about Elanga after a famous Forest victory. He also thinks that he’s currently looking better than Antony who cost Manchester United around £86 million.

Earle praises Elanga

The pundit has been speaking to NBC Sports about the weekend’s victory for Forest. Elanga set up Morgan Gibbs-White to score the winning goal at the City Ground and he’s now been lauded for his efforts.

Earle told The Two Robbie’s Podcast: “I also want to take you to Anthony Elanga at Nottingham Forest. He played wide right for Forest and on the wide right for Manchester United is Antony. Let’s just weigh things up for a minute. One isn’t good enough for Manchester United leaving for £20 million, one comes in at United for £100 million. One has got 10 goal involvements and actually looks like there is more to come. The other looks like he’s shot and can’t go past a full-back.”

Elanga has now scored four goals and claimed six assists this season. It makes it the best season of his professional career and there should be even more to come as he plays more games.

Forest hit the jackpot with Elanga

It’s perhaps unfair to compare Elanga with Brennan Johnson as the two have different qualities. However, the comparisons will take place given that the man signed from United was signed to ultimately replace Johnson on the right.

It’s a case of so far, so good for Elanga at Forest. He wasn’t a starter when he first signed but since Johnson left for Tottenham he’s been a regular in the Reds attack.

Forest have done lots of poor business in the transfer market in recent times. However, signing Elanga for £15 million looks like a brilliant piece of business and it’s fascinating to see how he continues to develop in the coming years.
