Nottingham Forest In Most Rejoyful Moment For The Award Of The season

Ibrahim Sangare, a midfielder for Nottingham Forest, is one of 30 players shortlisted to compete for African Football of the Year. The winner will be revealed at the upcoming CAF awards, where the enforcer will compete against a formidable competition.

The 25-year-old swapped PSV for Forest on transfer deadline day during the summer transfer window. He had spent three years with the Eredivisie outfit after signing from Toulouse in 2020.

Sangare was placed at the top of the Forest wishlist very early in the summer. However, signing him only became a reality once Brennan Johnson departed for Tottenham in a deal worth £50 million.

Sangare up for prestigious award

The list of 30 players has been announced today on Twitter. Forest star Sangare is among the likes of Sadio Mane, Mohamed Salaha, Riyad Mahrez and Victor Osimhen to win the sought-after accolade.

Sangare will now have to wait until 11th December to find out if he’s been successful. The ceremony will take place in Morocco and Mane will be hoping to retain his crown when the announcement is made.

Sangare was in fine form for PSV during the 2022/23 campaign. He scored eight goals and claimed three assists as the Dutch outfit came second in the league ahead of Ajax who finished third.

Although not at all horrible for Forest, the gifted midfielder still has more to give. Though he hasn’t fully settled into English life yet, there are signs of what he may provide the squad.

Sangare earned the moniker “unstoppable” at PSV for his midfield contributions. Steve Cooper’s task is to assist him settle in as soon as possible and bring out the best in him at Forest.

The best of Sangare is still to come for Forest. Nonetheless, the midfield player still has a lot more to give. In light of this, he will definitely eventually live up to his £30 million price tag.
