Tottenham midfielder Dejan Kulusevski says he understands Liverpool’s anger over the controversial VAR decision to disallow Luis Diaz’s goal against Spurs in their clash in North London earlier this season.

Diaz had a first-half strike incorrectly ruled out for offside after a communication breakdown between the referee and VAR. The error proved pivotal as Tottenham won 2-1, leading Jurgen Klopp to suggest the game should be replayed.

“I don’t believe anything will occur.” They were understandably upset that they received 0 points despite playing a strong game, as mistakes are inevitable in any game.

I don’t believe [a replay] will occur and it has most likely never happened. Every match has so many errors that it’s ridiculous.

Although it was a major mistake, Liverpool’s ire was understandable considering how it affected the result, according to Kulusevski. The Spurs star does not, however, expect the extraordinary step of a rematch to materialize.

The 23-year-old believes that no matter the consequences, mistakes are a part of sport and that teams must learn from them. Kulusevski mentioned that there were another two

“We were excellent.” We were playing 11 on 11. We were playing extremely well. When they managed to have a guy sent off, they improved significantly, and we somewhat deteriorated.

It was very significant to us and quite heavy for Liverpool.

The midfield player acknowledged Spurs were lucky to hold on for a decisive victory even if he maintained that both dismissals were warranted. His compassion encapsulates the mixed emotions following such a tumultuous match full of crucial refereeing calls.
