Tottenham Star; High Ratings As He makes a huge impact as Son scores 2-1
Here are our Tottenham Hotspur player ratings after their 2-1 victory against Liverpool in the Premier League on Saturday evening
Made a double save to deny Gakpo and then Robertson in the 12th minute. Couldn’t do much about Gakpo’s close range finish at the end of the first half. Showed some really confident handling when called upon. 7
Pedro Porro
Another impressive display down the right and very little got past him. Then it was his dangerous low ball that Matip sent into his own net in the final moments. Richly deserved end to the game for the Spaniard. 9
Cristian Romero
Another dominant performance from the Argentine in much of what he had to do and pushed up as a midfielder as Liverpool lost numbers. Picked up a late yellow card. 8
Micky van de Ven
A rare wobble of a first half. The Dutchman was caught out three times, first for Diaz’s disallowed effort, then for Gakpo’s goal and also when Diaz had a late sliding effort in added time. He improved from then on. 5
Destiny Udogie
Unfortunate to pick up a yellow card for a successful tackle in the first half and the resulting free-kick eventually ended up with Liverpool’s equaliser. Was fouled by Jota for his second yellow card. A solid showing against tough opposition in Salah. 7
Pape Matar Sarr
Made a good flying block midway through the first half to deflect a Jones shot wide. Had a couple of efforts on goal in an industrious performance. 7
Yves Bissouma
Took a big hit from Jones on his leg which resulted in the Liverpool man’s red card. Brushed it off and put in another strong showing, including a great bit of tracking back to stop Salah in one second half break. Picked up his fourth yellow card of the season, which means he’s walking a tightrope for the next 12 matches. 8
James Maddison
Played a lovely through ball to Richarlison in the build-up to the opening goal. Curled a lovely shot with his left-foot that Alisson saved superbly. Put Richarlison through for another effort that Son knocked home but the Brazilian was offside. Came off late on having been a fitness doubt before the game. His set pieces weren’t up to their usual standard. 7
Dejan Kulusevski
Embarked on some driving runs in the first half to get Spurs up the pitch but struggled with his quality in the final third. 6
Son Heung-min
Flicked home his 200th goal in European football since moving across from South Korea in the first half. Alisson turned over his volley from point blank range superbly early in the second half. Had the ball in the net again in the second half but Richarlison was offside in the build-up. Looked to be struggling in the second half and was replaced midway through by Solomon. 8
Richarlison
Starting on the left, he grabbed an assist with a perfect ball into the path of Son to score the opening goal. Set up his captain for another in the second half but was flagged offside. 7
Subs
Manor Solomon
He kept Liverpool pinned back down his side and kept probing for openings with his dribbling. 6
Oliver Skipp
Came on late in the game to inject some fresh legs into the midfield. 5
