Cooper Appeal To Nottingham Forest Where His Joy Is Coming From This Summer
Steve Cooper, the head coach of Nottingham Forest, is reportedly extremely pleased with Wayne Hennessey’s attitude. At the City Ground, the Wales goalie is now the third choice.
The 36-year-old was unable to participate in preseason. Due to the Forest goalkeeper’s injury during the off-season, the Reds were encouraged to sign Matt Turner and Odysseas Vlachodimos
Hennessey remains at the club and has a year to run on his existing deal. Now, The Athletic has claimed that Cooper has been very impressed with the experienced goalkeeper.
Hennessey remains at Forest – and he’s impressing
It’s not really a surprise that Hennessey is knuckling day and supporting his Forest teammates. The goalkeeper has enjoyed a quality career and he’s seen it all.
Last season, the stopper provided competition for both Dean Henderson and Keylor Navas. He made nine appearances for the Reds in total during 2022/23, keeping three clean sheets.
The signings of Turner and Vlachodimos have naturally caused him to move down the pecking order. With George Shelvey and Aaron Bott also pushing hard, the goalkeeping department is competitive.
Given that Turner is a player who hasn’t played much football in this country, perhaps Hennessey’s role will slip under the radar. He needs to be the supporting influence and it appears he’s doing just that.
Hennessey has pleased Cooper on the practice field, and it appears that he has positive influence. It’s difficult to imagine him playing much football, but given his age, he might not care too much.
Hennessey must now continue to exert pressure on his Forest teammates. When the campaign is over and he departs the City Ground, he will feel as like he still made a contribution if he is able to accomplish that.
