Manchester United boss Erik ten Hag is set to have a busy final week of the summer transfer window. The Red Devils are close to finalising their next signing but are also set to allow a bunch of players to leave.

United need to sign a back-up goalkeeper to Andre Onana and look set to do so in the coming days. That will have repercussions on Dean Henderson’s future, with a potential move to Crystal Palace on the cards.

Ten Hag also wants to bring in a new midfielder to bolster his options in the middle of the park. However, the injury suffered by Mason Mount means Scott McTominay is now likely to stay beyond the deadline.

Donny van de Beek and Eric Bailly are two other players likely to find new clubs between now and 11pm on September 1. There may also be a loan exit or two for some younger players in Ten Hag’s squad.

Erik ten Hag has criticised his Manchester United frontline for ‘not running’ against Tottenham last weekend.

The Dutchman’s attack has looked disjointed in the first two weeks of the Premier League season, with their lack of a focal point making a noticeable impact on performances.

However, Ten Hag believes that it is their lack of legwork that has been the true issue, explaining: “They didn’t run. They ran in the wrong moments, too late – especially the front. They didn’t recover. It’s a demand here – if you want to win games.‌ For the first 35 minutes, we were so good at Tottenham.

“We dominated totally. We should’ve scored minimum once, I think twice. They were nowhere, nothing. And then things happened in the game and the players got distracted, not doing their jobs anymore.

“I’m not used to it from this team because they always do it. It’s what the fans can expect and what we demand. The demand at United is you do it for 90 minutes every game no matter what.”
