The Hammers were interested in signing the Scotland international from the Red Devils earlier this month. They made an offer of £30 million which was swiftly rejected.

However, this has not ended their pursuit of McTominay. The 26-year-old could be the subject of fresh interest from David Moyes’ side before the transfer deadline.

There is no mention of the asking price, but it has recently been reported that the Red Devils won’t entertain less than £45m to part ways with their graduate.

United must find replacement if McTominay is sold

The Red Devils recently suffered a setback with Mason Mount picking up a hamstring injury. It has been reported that he could be out for a maximum of six weeks.

This leaves Casemiro, Bruno Fernandes, Christian Eriksen, McTominay, Donny van de Beek as the senior midfield options, but the latter is out-of-favour under manager Erik ten Hag.

West Ham could make a renewed bid closer to McTominay’s price tag, but we believe United should keep hold of him unless they have plans to pursue a new midfielde

Fiorentina’s Sofyan Amrabat has been linked with a move to Old Trafford for months, but there has been no contact between United and the Serie A outfit, as things stand.

The Moroccan could be a potential target for United if McTominay leaves. He would be an upgrade on the Scot with his better distribution and ball control from midfield.

The 27-year-old is currently valued at around £26m by Fiorentina. United could easily pay the sum with McTominay’s exit. He would be a top-class acquisition for the club.
