Attracting Of Interesting Star Player From Saudi Arabia
Saudi Arabian club Al-Ittihad are ‘weighing up’ a move for Manchester United centre-back Raphael Varane, according to reports.
Saudi Arabia’s football sides have made themselves a force to be reckoned with in the transfer market this summer thanks to the massive transfer fees and wages they are able to offer. Superstars Karim Benzema, Neymar and N’Golo Kante have all made the move while Cristiano Ronaldo joined Al Nassr after leaving United in December.
While the league is attracting big names, Premier League teams are also using them to their advantage by selling their ageing or unwanted stars for decent prices to bolster their own coffers. United have already done so by selling Alex Telles to Al Nassr but one player they will not be wanting to lose is Varane.
Italian journalist Rudy Galetti, as cited by Inside Futbol, reports that Al-Ittihad are ‘weighing up making an offer’ to try and tempt the Frenchman away from Old Trafford. However, it would take an offer of epic proportions for United to even consider selling.
Varane is a vital player in Erik ten Hag’s side as a first-choice centre-back alongside Lisandro Martinez and has scored United’s only goal so far this season. United are already short on centre-back options after releasing Phil Jones and Axel Tuanzebe in the summer while Eric Bailly is not in the manager’s plans.
Harry Maguire’s future also remains uncertain so it’s highly unlikely United will allow Varane to leave.
Meanwhile, According to a report by Netsport, Bayern Munich defender Benjamin Pavard has ‘rejected’ a move to United in favour of joining Inter Milan.
