Alan Shearer has spoken about Lewis Hall being at Newcastle United’s training ground ahead of a transfer from Chelsea.

The Newcastle United legend joked that Lewis Hall probably watched his side’s Saturday night encounter against Manchester City ‘at Wetherspoons’, as he told .

This comes after Sandro Tonali, one of Eddie Howe’s major summer signings, was seemingly being told by his teammates to visit the place for a bite to eat and for a drink.

The Italy international, who is probably used to some of the best dining experiences in his homeland, wanted advice on what’s best in his new surroundings.

Now, if Hall does make his rumoured move to St James’ Park, then you would think his knowledge of the area is far better than Tonali’s and he wouldn’t fall for the Wetherspoons joke.

Shearer was asked about the Englishman’s incoming transfer and whether it is close.

“He was at the training ground yesterday or this (Saturday) morning,” said Shearer.

“And then probably at Wetherspoons,” joked the Newcastle legend, in reference to Tonali being told to go there. “He is probably watching the match from there.”

When the Saudis took charge of Newcastle, you would have thought that big-name players would have arrived left, right and centre.

But it has been far from that, with near-on every arrival having the manager’s imprint on it, and rightly so.

Someone like Hall, who can play left-back, left-wing and in the middle of the park, ticks those boxes because Eddie Howe will be able to work with the Englishman and take his game to even higher levels.
