Leeds United interested in Norwich City midfielder Kenny McLean

Welcome to our latest Leeds United live blog, where we will bring you all of the latest news, gossip, rumours and transfers from Elland Road and beyond.

With two-and-a-half weeks of the summer transfer window remaining, Leeds United have a lot to do. The exits have kept on coming in recent days, with Jack Harrison’s loan move to Everton confirmed on Monday morning, while the situations concerning Wilfried Gnonto and Luis Sinisterra are adding further pressure on a squad ravaged by departures and injuries.

Leeds have managed to bring in four new faces this summer in Ethan Ampadu, Karl Darlow, Sam Byram and Joe Rodon, but the failure to fill the sub’s bench on Saturday at Birmingham is an all-too-visceral reminder of the current state of the squad.

Daniel Farke’s men have a Friday night match against West Bromwich Albion coming up and will be keen to add new faces to the squad before then. Find out if they do here, as we bring you all of the latest news coming out of Elland Road and the rest of the Championship

Unsettled Rangers star to ‘lead by example’ at Leeds United as transfer tipped

Leeds United should sign unsettled Glasgow Rangers midfielder Glen Kamara who would ‘lead by example’ at Elland Road, according to Ross McCormack. Ex-Whites and Rangers forward McCormack believes Finland international Kamara would be a huge asset in the Championship for Leeds, and for youngsters such as teenager Archie Gray his experience would be ‘invaluable’

Farke worked with the Scotland international at Norwich City and knows he can depend on the 31-year-old in the Championship.

McLean has two years remaining on his contract at Carrow Road but the report claims Farke is keen for his experience to mix among Leeds’ young talent.

Carlos Corberan knows Leeds United will be ‘dangerous’ when he brings his West Bromwich Albion side to Elland Road tonight – and has praised new Whites boss Daniel Farke for his ‘unbelievable’ Championship record.

The Spaniard worked at Leeds under Marcelo Bielsa, and has fond memories of his time in Yorkshire, but is looking to add more misery to the Whites tonight. Leeds have picked up just one point from their opening two Championship games, with headlines dominated by players wanting to leave the club.

However, while Corberan acknowledges that any relegated side has to go through a transition period, he is still very aware that Leeds have plenty of good players who will make life difficult for this side tonight. And he knows in Farke they have a manager who is very experienced at this level.

“I think that Leeds, when you play against teams like this, or Southampton, or Leicester, when they are relegated from the Premier League they are going to have a transition period,” he said. “Especially when you change the coach, and this happens normally in that scenario, but they still have Premier League players.

“In the case of Leeds, they have Premier League players from the last three years. They have a group of Premier League players. I know they are in this transition where some players don’t want to keep playing and they prefer the transfer, and other players will come. They have two or three new players who are probably going to be in the starting XI, and I know they’ll be a team with still more things to come in the market because they’re in this transition period.

“That doesn’t mean that they’re not dangerous now. Especially for me, these teams, after one defeat, are even more dangerous. They’re at home after one defeat and that’s the time you have to be ready because they’re going to go for the game.”

Leeds United linked with move for Norwich City forward Josh Sargent

Leeds United are keen on a move for Norwich City forward Josh Sargent this summer.

That is according to Football Insider, who claim the Whites have drawn up a forward shortlist following the sale of Rodrigo and Patrick Bamford’s injury.

And it is believed Sargent, who Daniel Farke signed for Norwich during his time as manager at Carrow Road, features on that list.

The 23-year-old struggled in his first season in English football, scoring just twice as the Canaries were relegated from the Premier League.

But the USMNT international did manage a respectable 13 goal haul in the Championship last term and has already kicked off this season with a goal and an assist in Norwich’s opening two games.

Sargent is under contract until 2025 and could be the ‘subject of a bid in the coming days’.

Leeds United’s wait for a first Championship win this season will go on this evening when they take on West Bromwich Albion at Elland Road.

That is the view of former Whites midfielder, and Sky Sports’ leading Football League expert, David Prutton who believes things aren’t ‘looking quite right’ for Daniel Farke’s side.
