Robert Taylor, a former youth player for Nottingham Forest, is now gearing up to play with the legendary Lionel Messi at Inter Miami.

Taylor, now a 28-year-old winger, first joined Nottingham Forest’s City Ground at the tender age of 16 and was part of the academy team during the 2008/09 season. He later ventured to Lincoln City and Barnet, representing Finland on the international stage, but he never took the field for a senior match with the English clubs.

After joining the MLS team last summer, Taylor is undoubtedly excited about the opportunity of playing and interacting closely with superstar Messi. The Argentine virtuoso has announced he’ll be plying his trade in America after signing a two-and-a-half-year contract upon his Paris Saint-Germain contract’s expiration.

Taylor is not the only one eager to welcome Messi as their new teammate. Harvey Neville, son of Phil Neville, also looks forward to playing with Messi. Harvey transferred to the club from Manchester United in 2021 and has since played 14 games after his promotion from Inter Miami II.

Inter Miami, under the partial ownership of David Beckham, recently bid farewell to Harvey’s father, Phil Neville. Phil has moved on to a fresh role with the Canada men’s national team.

Commenting on Messi’s move, DC United manager Wayne Rooney expressed his enthusiasm. “Seeing Messi enter the league is fantastic,” he said. “In the past, players like David Beckham and Zlatan Ibrahimovic have shown what a significant impact they can have.

Messi is possibly the greatest player ever and has recently almost single-handedly won the World Cup. He will undoubtedly make a significant impact on Miami and MLS. It’s a fantastic signing, and everyone is probably thrilled to welcome him.”
