Carlos Alcaraz has won four Grand Slam titles at the age of only 21, but the Spanish tennis prodigy has acknowledged that finding love has proven tough for him.

Tennis star Carlos Alcaraz has opened up about the difficulties he faces when dating in public.

The 21-year-old phenom already has a successful career, having won four major titles, including consecutive Wimbledon championships. While he’s on a path to match Novak Djokovic’s record 24 Grand Slam men’s singles championships, Alcaraz’s romantic life isn’t on the same winning trend.

Alcaraz was previously linked to Maria Gonzalez Gimenez, a sports marketing and law graduate from his native Murcia who shares his passion for tennis. Despite not confirming their relationship, the Wimbledon champion hinted at a potential split by admitting he’s been single since early 2023.

Speculation has swirled around potential romances with British tennis prodigy Emma Raducanu and Spanish singer Ana Mena, but Alcaraz keeps his cards close to his chest regarding his love interests. However, he opened up about the complexities of maintaining a relationship alongside his hectic schedule.

“I’m single, but I’m looking for someone,” Alcaraz admitted on the Molusco TV podcast. “It can be difficult for a tennis player to meet the right person, because they are always on the move. Who knows what will happen this year.”

When asked about his current romantic involvements, Alcaraz clarified: “No, no, no commitments for now. I’m single.”

During the recent off-season break, various other tennis stars took the time off to take the next step in their own relationships, like British No.1 Katie Boulter and Australian world No.9 Alex de Minaur, who announced their engagement right before Christmas Day. Reacting to some of his on-court rivals’ splendid news, he said: “I’ve laughed several times with people close to me, when I discovered that three or four players got engaged during the winter break. I thought it would be my turn, but not yet.”

He also admitted: “It’s complicated to never stay in the same place, it’s difficult to find the person who can share things with you if you’re always in different parts of the world.”

His opinions are reflected in the existence of several high-profile couples in tennis, who are likely to find it simpler to develop long-term relationships due to their similar schedules. Alcaraz, on the other hand, wanted to put an end to curiosity about Raducanu, who witnessed his second Wimbledon title victory.

“She is from here, so I imagine that she wanted to come and see it,” Alcaraz explained. “If there was a Grand Slam in Murcia I would watch the finals 100 per cent. I don’t know if she came to the finals or if she came to see me. Who knows? You have to question her, but I hope she enjoyed the final.”
