Naomi Osaka Spoke “Bitterly” How Carlos Alcaraz Will Lose If He Is Not Careful With…

Patrick Mouratoglou says Carlos Alcaraz may not be as consistent as Novak Djokovic, Rafael Nadal or Jannik Sinner but he is “more fiery” and brings so much other stuff to the table that makes his matches “never boring.”

The Serb and the Spaniard, who marked one era of tennis and created one of the greatest rivalries in tennis, are no longer battling after the record 14-time French Open champion retired last year.

Now, Alcaraz and Sinner have the most entertaining rivalry on the Tour and one that is tipped to be the biggest in men’s tennis for many more years. 

But while they split four Grand Slams between them last year, it wasn’t a secret that the Italian was more consistent throughout the year. 

However, it wasn’t that surprising considering that the 21-year-old Spaniard already has had a couple of periods when he would absolutely dominate but also times when he would go on without titles for an extended period.

But when watching the reigning Wimbledon champion, Naomi Osaka’s coach Mouratoglou sees so many things that make up for his lack of consistency.

Mouratoglou: Alcaraz is never boring… He’s more fiery 

“The new generation is great. It was a different type of tennis with two players (Nadal and Djokovic) who were incredibly consistent, who built the points a lot,” Mouratoglou said in a video uploaded on his Instagram. 

“If you look at Alcaraz, for example, he’s more of a puncher. But I think it’s very interesting because he can do so many different things, and he does everything so well.

“He plays drop shots, he comes to the net, unbelievable power, unbelievable touch, he can return volley, and he does all this in a match—that’s crazy.

“So it’s very exciting, never boring, something is always happening. Of course, he’s not as consistent as Rafa and Novak at their peak or Sinner now, who’s incredibly consistent, but he’s more fiery.”

This year, the third-ranked Spaniard won the ATP 500 tournament in Rotterdam but failed to win the Australian Open after losing to Novak Djokovic in the quarterfinal
