Finally Wolverhampton Boss Revealed His Top “Deficiency” In The Saturday Victory And Has…

Three things we learned from Wolves’ win against Bournemouth

Wolves gave their chances of securing Premier League survival a huge boost after securing victory away to Bournemouth.

Wolves put in an excellent performance against Bournemouth and ran out deserving 1-0 winners thanks to a winning goal from Matheus Cunha.

Wolves’ Game Week 26 could not have gone any better after Leicester City were thumped 4-0 by Brentford on Friday and Ipswich Town fell to a 4-1 defeat against Spurs.

And following the superb result, which could prove decisive in the race for survival, Molineux News have looked at what supporters learned from the match.

Jean-Ricner Bellegarde flourishing

A peripheral figure under previous managers, Jean-Ricner Bellegarde has struggled to become a regular starter — that looks to be changing under Pereira though.

The Frenchman is proving to be a versatile option. His performances against Aston Villa and Liverpool proved he can influence proceedings centrally, but Saturday’s game against Bournemouth showed he’s just as effective in a more advanced role.

Bellegarde was excellent, and although Cunha will get the headlines for scoring the winner, it was Wolves’ number 27 who was the side’s unsung hero… again.

Vitor Pereira no longer tactically limited thanks to Marshall Munetsi

Learning from his past mistake which saw Joao Gomes’ sending off against Arsenal cost Wolves vital points, Pereira withdrew the Brazilian, who was on a booking, at halftime against the Cherries.

The Portuguese manager’s decision was helped by Marshall Munetsi’s January Deadline Day signing. The commanding midfielder’s availability has gifted Pereira more options in the heart of midfield and made it easier for Joao Gomes to come off at the mid-way point on Saturday.

The former Stade Reims star is quickly becoming one of the Old Gold’s most indispensable players.

Matt Doherty thriving at centre-back

Despite starting his career as a traditional right-back, Matt Doherty, who is enjoying his second spell at Wolves, has been asked to reinvent his playing style.

Tasked with forming one-third of a back three, the Ireland international has played as a right-sided centre-back under Pereira, and it’s a role he’s thriving in.

The experienced defender put in another great performance against the Cherries and, barring an injury in training, will definitely be starting against Fulham next week.
