Juventus reportedly secured deal with Feyenoord defender Hancko

Cristiano Giuntoli, Juventus’ sporting director, has reportedly negotiated a future deal for Feyenoord defender David Hancko, with the transfer slated to take place in the summer of 2025. Despite failing to bring the Slovakian international to Turin during the January transfer window, Juventus has retained its interest and is preparing for a summer deal.

Calciomercato report that the Old Lady’s recent transfer activities have drawn mixed reactions. While the acquisition of Randal Kolo Muani has been praised, the loan signing of Renato Veiga and the purchase of Lloyd Kelly from Newcastle United have been met with scepticism. The club’s inability to sign Hancko in January, despite reaching an agreement with the player, was particularly disappointing for fans and management alike.

Feyenoord’s reluctance to sell Hancko in January was partly due to the departure of their star striker Santiago Gimenez to AC Milan. Losing both their offensive talisman and defensive leader in the same window was deemed too risky for a club with Champions League ambitions and a desire to rebuild trust with their supporters.

However, Juventus have not given up on Hancko. The club has reportedly “booked” the defender for a summer transfer, with a fee of around 22 million euros agreed upon. Hancko is set to sign a five-year contract worth 2.5 million euros per season. Juventus plans to maintain contact with the player and Feyenoord in the coming months to ensure a smooth transition when the transfer window reopens.

This strategic move by Giuntoli indicates Juventus’ long-term planning and commitment to improving their defensive alternatives. With Gleison Bremer out since the start of the season due to a serious injury sustained in a Champions League match against Leipzig, the signing of Hancko is viewed as critical for boosting the Bianconeri’s backline.
