Wor Flags, a prominent Newcastle United fan club, has issued a plea to supporters ahead of the Magpies’ Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Arsenal.

Eddie Howe’s team will go into Wednesday’s game with a two-goal lead at the Emirates thanks to goals from Alexander Isak and Anthony Gordon, but a recent drop in home form has raised tensions ahead of a crucial encounter.

In a plea to Newcastle fans attending tonight’s game, Wor Flags have had this to say on X ahead of the game:

‘MATCHDAY!!! The Gallowgate and the Leazes are completely stacked with flags, please get them going. The walkways have the bigger wavers on, we’d appreciate as much help as possible with those. East Stand, thank you in advance for your support and cooperation

‘Another atmosphere like this [when winning 4-1 against PSG] needed under the lights. We all need to do our part in the stands. Get in early, twirl those scarves and make one hell of a racket. Howay the Lads!’

A rocking St James’ Park is a formidable atmosphere for any opposition, the PSG game being a prime example, and Wednesday is another ‘all hands on deck’ night from those on the pitch and those in the stands.

Big atmosphere could spur us on to Wembley

We certainly brought the noise for the Carabao Cup semi-final second leg against Southampton two years ago and another big atmosphere on a mammoth night in NE1 may make the difference on a trip to the capital.
