even-figure deal sanctioned by Leicester City owner now looks like a complete disaster

Leicester City are on a dire run of form and owner Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha is becoming quite unpopular.

The Foxes were in Premier League action against Fulham on Saturday afternoon, aiming to put an end to their dismal run.

It was not to be, however, with a lackluster showing from basically every player on the pitch seeing Leicester City fall to a 2-0 defeat.

Fans have begun to turn on Ruud van Nistelrooy after that match, with the Dutchman now losing seven league games on the spin with the Midlands outfit.

Relegation is looking more and more likely with each passing week and supporters are no doubt predicting another loss this weekend when their side clash with Tottenham Hotspur.

Leicester fans made their feelings clear on the board during the Fulham defeat, with chants directed at Jon Rudkin and ‘sack the board’ being bellowed around the King Power Stadium.

Leicester City owner sanctioned a poor deal this summer

Rudkin is in charge of football affairs but a report from The Athletic has revealed this week that he delegates major decisions to Aiyawatt Srivaddhanaprabha.

Now, one decision that ‘Top’ made during the summer of 2024 has proven to be a serious disaster.

Leicester still have PSR problems so it is obviously important they spend their money wisely.

However, their recruitment during the 2024 summer transfer window on the whole was pretty dire.

The likes of Jordan Ayew and Odsonne Edouard have underperformed, but the addition of Oliver Skipp looks like such a waste of money six months into the campaign.

The midfielder, according to Sky Sports, joined Leicester for an initial £20m plus £5m in add-ons – their most expensive signing of the summer.

How Oliver Skipp has fared at Leicester City

The 24-year-old made his Foxes debut in August, coming off the bench for 19 minutes against Fulham.

As we head toward January though, fans are still yet to see the former Tottenham man show any real class.

He’s fallen out of favour under Van Nistelrooy despite his competition, Harry Winks, also being poor of late.

Skipp was dire against Newcastle United the last time he completed 90 minutes, failing to make a single tackle inside the opening hour of the 3-0 defeat.

Considering there are so many other areas that need work right now, Leicester can’t really afford, and shouldn’t have to, spend money on more midfielders. But the form of Skipp following his seven-figure move means that may have to happen in January.

Recruitment has always been questionable under Rudkin but the signing of Skipp has proven to be a serious disaster.
