Fremantle Dockers veterans Nat Fyfe and Michael Walters will miss a portion of pre-season training after undergoing arthroscopic knee surgery. Fyfe had surgery to remove loose bodies and stabilize his knee, while Walters addressed ongoing knee symptoms. Both players are expected to return to training within a fortnight.

Fremantle veterans Nat Fyfe and Michael Walters will miss a chunk of pre-season training due to knee surgery . Fyfe, 33, will undergo arthroscopic surgery on his knee after an incident while training over the weekend. Scans showed no significant cartilage or meniscus damage, but surgery was required to “remove some loose bodies” and help stabilise the knee. Despite going under the knife, Fremantle hope the dual Brownlow medallist could be back training within a fortnight.

“Nat’s recovery is dependent on how quickly the knee settles but if all goes well, he will resume strength work and cross-training within a fortnight.” After struggling with injuries throughout the past three years, Fyfe played 22 matches last year. Walters underwent a similar operation over the Christmas break. He is expected to resume training within a fortnight. “Michael also had an arthroscope completed over the break following some on-going symptoms in his knee,” Brierty said.
