It was a first defeat for Ruud van Nistelrooy as Leicester boss and the 48-year-old would’ve been left concerned by the performances of some of his players.

One star was particularly disappointing and with the January transfer window coming up, it may mean he has played for the last time.

Hamza Choudhury disappoints in return to Leicester starting XI

For the first time this season, Hamza Choudhury started for the Foxes in the Premier League.

With Boubakary Soumare, Wilfred Ndidi and Harry Winks all unavailable, Choudhury partnered Oliver Skipp in the middle of the park.

However, both failed to impress and between the Foxes duo it took 60 minutes to make a tackle.

Choudhury looked nervous on the ball and whenever trying to play it forward, would give the ball away.

Leicester City should consider selling Hamza Choudhury in January

Choudhury was one of four Leicester academy prospects in the squad against Newcastle on Saturday and has been a recognisable face in the first team for well over five years now.

The 27-year-old has made over 100 appearances for the Foxes but has never managed to establish himself as a regular starter in the squad.

Once all of Van Nistelrooy’s midfield options are available it’s hard to foresee the Bangladesh international getting much game time.

Funds will need to be raised to improve the squad and with the January transfer window coming up, Choudhury could add a few extra million into the bank.

Given this age and experience, he could be a good asset for a Championship club and if so, there is every chance that we may not see Choudhury feature again.
