Another “Stunning” News Unveiled In Birmingham City As The Blues Boss Has…

Chris Davies gives Scott Wright and Alfons Sampsted injury updates

Chris Davies hopes to welcome Alfons Sampsted back to training soon – but Birmingham City might have to wait a little bit longer for Scott Wright.

Sampsted rolled his ankle on Iceland duty in November and has missed Blues’ last seven matches, including the 2-0 win over Bristol Rovers yesterday. Wright, meanwhile, has missed two months of action after sustaining an injury in the build-up to Blues’ 3-1 victory at Lincoln on October 19.

Neither Sampsted nor Wright had started a League One game prior to getting injured, but the latter was banging on the door after a string of strong showings off the bench. Scottish winger Wright contributed to four goals in his seven appearances – three goals and an assist.

Blues now have a week off before they face Crawley Town on Monday, December 23 – the first of five games in the space of 13 days for Davies’ promotion chasers. The Blues boss hopes to count on Sampsted and Wright during that period.

Giving an update on injured duo Sampsted and Wright, Davies said: “Sampsted is building, so is Scott, but Scott is a few days behind Alfons. Hopefully Alfons will be back in training very soon and start to build up.

“It’s quite exciting because if we can get those two back over the Christmas period, with the games we’ve got, then that will be pretty much a fully fit squad.

“We’ve had a lot of illnesses, and a little injury flurry a couple of weeks ago but that seems to have died down a bit now. This was the time I wanted the squad for, Christmas, New Year, with the volume of games, so we need to have a good training week now and go again.”
