Tyler Dupree Opens Up on England Snub: ‘It’s a Tough Pill to Swallow’

Wigan Warriors’ rising star Tyler Dupree has spoken candidly about his omission from the England squad, admitting the disappointment has fueled his determination to improve. The 24-year-old prop, who has been in stellar form this season, was surprisingly left out of Shaun Wane’s recent squad announcement despite his consistent performances in Super League.

In an exclusive interview, Dupree shared his thoughts on the snub. “It’s a tough pill to swallow,” he admitted. “You always dream of representing your country, and when you feel you’ve done enough to be in contention, it hurts not to get the call.”

Dupree joined Wigan mid-season from Salford Red Devils and quickly established himself as a key figure in the Warriors’ pack. His powerful carries and defensive work earned praise from fans and pundits alike, leading many to believe he was a shoo-in for international selection.

“I respect Shaun [Wane] and his decisions,” Dupree said. “He’s got a tough job picking the best squad, and there’s so much talent out there. But I know what I bring to the table, and I’ll use this as motivation to push even harder.”

The prop also revealed he has received support from teammates and coaching staff at Wigan. “The guys here have been great, encouraging me to keep my head up and focus on what’s ahead. There’s always another opportunity around the corner,” he added.

Despite the setback, Dupree remains optimistic about his future. “I’m still young, and there’s plenty of time to achieve my goals. Right now, I’m focused on helping Wigan achieve success. The rest will follow.”

As Dupree looks to prove his worth, his England omission might just be the spark that ignites an even more impressive chapter in his career.
