Gary O’Neil A Man Under “Huge” Pressure, And David Claims That…
Dave Edwards claims ‘out of this world’ Wolves player has something he’s not seen in ages
Wolves are now out of the relegation zone after a brilliant win over Fulham.
Wolves beat Fulham 4-1 at Craven Cottage, and the mood has really changed after a really positive past couple of results.
Gary O’Neil was a man under huge pressure going into the Southampton game, and there was talk that his job was on the line if he didn’t win.
But he did win that game and then followed it.
Matheus Cunha has played a huge part in these last couple of victories, being named Player of the Match after both contests. The Brazilian scored two and assisted one in the win over Fulham, and Cunha also drew comparisons to the great Dennis Bergkamp.
Edwards hails Matheus Cunha’s football IQ
Dave Edwards has heaped more praise on Cunha in his latest column for the E&S.
The Brazilian really stepped up to be counted for once again against Fulham. He equalised for Wolves with a superb goal, bringing down a long pass from Mario Lemina before finishing impudently.
In the second-half, he found Joao Gomes with a lovely disguised ball through, before sweeping in a superb effort from the edge of the box with a first-time finish.
Cunha is in the form of his life right now, and Edwards has hailed the star’s intelligence.
He said: “Cunha has got the art of standing still down to a tee. Not in a lazy way, but his football IQ. I think it’s been a while since a Wolves player has had that football IQ.
“If you just watch Matheus Cunha on his own when you’re next at Molineux, or on the TV, he is so clever. The game just passes him by, I often think ‘I’d make a darting run here’ – but he’s constantly scanning. There is like a forcefield around him when opponents don’t come near him.
“The individual quality of his second goal late on was out of this world.”
