Birmingham City Fc Is A Club That Has “Ruined” My Carrier, And They Have…

Scott Hogan rolls back the years after being ‘unhappy all the time’ at Birmingham City

It might only be in League Two but Scott Hogan is flourishing and finding the net again for MK Dons after contemplating walking away from football during the summer.

Hogan waited a while to find a new club after being released by Birmingham City in May following the club’s relegation from the Championship. The striker only managed three goals in his final 49 appearances for Blues and was much maligned towards the end of his St Andrew’s spell.

“As the season kicked off, I thought I wanted to come back. I’m 32, I’m still fine, there’s no mileage in my legs, so it was a case of looking at what comes in.

“(Signing for Dons) really appealed to me, it’s an hour on the train so I can still be at home with the family. I’ve still got years left in me, so I don’t want to waste it.”

After two goals in his first three starts for Dons in League Two, Hogan produced a man of the match display to help his new team overcome Cheltenham Town 3-2 last time out. Hogan registered two assists against the Robins to take his tally to four goal contributions in five League Two starts.

Hogan joined Dons at a time when they were struggling in League Two but five straight wins has propelled them up the table. Coincidentally, Hogan has started all of those matches.

The last time Hogan was in League Two, more than a decade ago, he scored 17 times. With two thirds of the season to go, Hogan is on course for his most productive campaign in years.
