Krystian Bielik: Birmingham City are 'too good' for League One - BBC Sport

Birmingham City will have to make do without the defender for their upcoming fixtures. He picked up an ankle injury last weekend in their 1-0 loss away at Charlton Athletic at The Valley

Bielik, 26, has been ever-present so far for the Blues this season in League One as they look to gain an immediate promotion back to the Championship. He wasn’t in their squad last night as they won 4-0 away at Shrewsbury Town at New Meadow in the Bristol Street Motors.

In this latest update regarding his condition, Davies has said, as per a report by BirminghamLive: “He got a bit of a nasty ankle knock at the weekend so he looks like he will be a few weeks at the very least.”

Birmingham City injury blow

Bielik’s absence will be a blow for Birmingham City but it gives other players like Ben Davies and Dion Sanderson the chance to step up.

He has been on the books of the Midlands outfit since joining them in 2022 on an initial loan deal

The Poland international, who has 11 caps under his belt, has made 87 appearances in all competitions and has scored two goals.

Bielik moved over to England in 2015 to join Arsenal after spells at Lech Poznan and Legia Warsaw.

He played twice for the Gunners and had temporary stints away from the Emirates Stadium at Birmingham City, Walsall and Charlton Athletic to get experience.

The Konin-born man then had a three-year spell at Derby County before switching back to the Blues.

What now?

Birmingham City are top of the third tier table and will want to bounce back from their loss at Charlton Athletic.

They are back in action after the international break with an away trip to Lincoln City as they look to get back to winning ways.

Davies’ side have adapted well to life in their new league and the feel-good factor has returned to the club.
