Huddersfield Town boss Michael Duff has said Wolves loanee Joe Hodge has sustained a groin injury.

Hodge, 22, could now be set for a spell on the sidelines and will be assessed this week to determine the true extent of the damage.

In this latest update, Duff has said, as per a report by The Yorkshire Post: “It doesn’t look great. He is away with Ireland (under-21s) at the minute having a scan. He felt a ‘pop’ in his groin. It is never a great sign when a player says the word pop with an injury.

“I don’t know the full details and I will know more on Thursday. It’s frustrating because he was coming off anyway. He had a bit of a tight groin. We were making a sub and the ball stayed in play for about three or four minutes in the moment he felt his pop. Hopefully, it’s not too bad, but it didn’t sound great.”

Huddersfield Town injury blow

Huddersfield Town will hope Hodge’s setback isn’t as bad as feared and that he can return as soon as possible.

They brought him in this past summer to bolster their midfield department and add more competition and depth to their ranks

Hodge played for Manchester City as a youngster and was loaned out to Derry City to get some experience.

Wolves came calling in 2021 and he has since played 13 matches for the Premier League side.

He was given the green light to head out the exit door at Molinuex for the first time when QPR came calling last January.

The Republic of Ireland youth international helped the R’s stay up in the last campaign in the Championship under Marti Cifuentes before heading back to his parent club.

What now?

Hodge will be checked on over the coming days to see how long he could potentially be in the treatment room as Huddersfield Town wait.

The Terriers won 2-0 at home to Barnsley last time out in League One after goals by Ben Wiles and David Kasumu and are sat in 9th.
