Paul Warne issues Derby County update on Liverpool defender in injury latest
Latest Derby County news from Derbyshire Live brings you what the Rams head coach has said regarding injuries for the weekend
Paul Warne says on-loan Liverpool defender Nat Phillips will be fit enough to face QPR on Saturday (3pm) after his substitution against Sunderland on Tuesday.
The centre-back needed to be replaced in the second half of the Championship clash and there were fears he may have suffered an injury. But Phillips was taken off as a precaution because the defender was showing signs of fatigue due to a lack of match minutes.
Rams head coach Warne said he also has another couple of concerns for the weekend but will know more about their availability later today.
“Nat (Phillips) hasn’t played many minutes obviously so his body started fatiguing and started cramping,” he said. That’s a sign that if you don’t get off then you will come off in a different way with a much bigger problem. I took him off. He will be okay but I’ve got a couple of others that I am hopeful on, but I will find out more today.”
Derby will be without Callum Elder (groin), David Ozoh (hamstring), Liam Thompson (groin), Tom Barkhuizen (calf) and Jake Rooney who is on the comeback from a knee injury.
