WOLVES UPDATE AHEAD OF MATCH AGAINST BRENTFORD
Wolves handed big injuury boost ahead of Brentford
Wolves have been handed a big boost with the return to first team training of experienced centre half Craig Dawson.
Dawson was pictured back on the grass at the Compton Park training pitch in midweek and it could not come at a better time.
He was a big miss at the back in the narrow 2-1 defeat to Liverpool through illness which left them short on numbers in the key position.
Yerson Mosquera is already out for the season while Santiago Bueno came off against Liverpool with an injury to his glute.
Dawson is therefore expected to slot straight back into the side and will be badly needed with the aerial prowess that Brentford possess.
The Bees have incredibly scored three goals in the first minute in three consecutive league games after the kick off, the first team in Premier League history to do so, so Wolves will need to be on their guard from the off as they bid to make it a fourth.
Gary O’Neil’s men are still searching for their first win of the season after a difficult start and there would be no better time than Saturday given it is right before another international break.
Dawson has previously spoken of the need to stick together in the face of adversity this season.
He said: “It’s been a tough start, but we’ve faced some very strong opposition so we have to stay focused, keep working and believe in ourselves to get the result.
“I think, in patches, we’ve had good performances, but none of that matters if you’re not getting the results.
“But we’ve got to stay together and keep working on the training pitch, which we are doing, and hopefully the results will come.
“It’s difficult at times, but, as a group, we’ve got to stay together, and that’s going to come from the manager, which it is doing.
“We work hard on the training pitch, and we believe in ourselves, so it’s only a matter of time until the performances turn into results and we get a little bit of luck here and there.”
