“Villa Devastated: Injury Crisis Hits Ahead of Wolves Clash”
Latest injury news ahead of the West Midlands Derby clash in the Premier League.
Aston Villa and Wolves meet at Villa Park on Saturday, September 21 in a West Midlands Derby in the Premier League.
Both teams were in action this midweek with mixed success. Villa won convincingly against Young Boys in the UEFA Champions League with Youri Tielemans, Jacob Ramsey, and Amadou Onana on target on Tuesday night.
Wolves played Brighton & Hove Albion a day later in the Carabao Cup, but exited the competition after a 3-2 defeat at the American Express Stadium. Tommy Doyle couldn’t mount a come back despite scoring a stoppage time goal as the Seagulls won 3-2, with Goncalo Guedes’ first-half effort also only counting as a consolation.
Aston Villa team news
Boubacar Kamara, Tyrone Mings, and Matty Cash are Villa’s only injury concerns. Kamara has been out with a knee injury since February but was spotted in training earlier this month and is making steady progress as he works towards a return.
Tyrone Mings also was sidelined with a knee injury and has been out for over a year. He’s resumed training, and could make an appearance in some form in the coming weeks.
Right-back Matty Cash suffered a hamstring injury at the end of August and was expected to miss a month of action. Lamare Bogarde, who is predominantly a centre midfielder has filled in the role in Cash’s absence.
During the 3-0 win against Young Boys, Ollie Watkins looked to be in some discomfort. He was sat on the bench with his foot elevated and ice around his ankle, however Unai Emery said he was ‘OK’ in his post-match press conference, playing down any fears about an injury.
