A simple question like “What’s the secret to the perfect drive?”- Lexus just hit the fairway through a new collaboration with a specialized lifestyle brand inspired by the game of golf.
Concurrently, those diehard off-road fans thinking the Lexus GX 550 will abandon the trails for a casual and relaxing day at the golf club need not worry about its lifestyle looks because we’re not getting this special edition into production anytime soon. However, judging by the reaction on social media, it seems that Malbon Golf fans quickly appreciated the idea of a big and capable Lexus GX 550 taking “performance from the freeway to the fairway providing a dedicated home for both passengers and their equipment.”
By the way, this one-off design is dedicated to a special golf game – foursomes. Before you think about NSFW things, take your golf ball out of the bunker because it’s as simple as it sounds – foursomes is just a golf game with four players, not what you were all thinking. Sheesh! Kidding aside, we all know that golfers need space for their equipment, and big, luxurious SUVs are perfect for their golf club rides.
As such, it was a no-brainer for Lexus to associate with Malbon. What makes the bespoke GX 550 stand out in any crowd is, of course, the special green and white livery. The former is a wrap depicting a topographic map of the fairways on a golf course and includes bespoke Malbon Edition details – like badges or the Malbon letters written on the front bumper.
There’s also a white roof underneath the fancy roof rack that’s matched by the full-face, solid alloy wheels dressed in white and casually made funny with help from a googly-eyed golf ball drawn on each cap. Aside from the 22-inch single-dish white wheels, there are other stand-out features on the outside – namely a couple of Pelican BX140R Cargo Cases on top of the Prinsu Roof Rack plus a Yakima SlimShady Roof Mounted Awning.
While the rooftop boxes store longer clubs like woods and drivers, the second row has captain’s chairs (another reference to the foursomes), and the third row has been axed in favor of a bespoke pull-out storage box. The latter has space for up to four golf bags, irons, golf balls, tees, shoes, towels, and any other ritzy golf stuff you might need. Also, the Malbon Golf logo is present on the front headrests, doorsill, and center console.
