Birmingham City Fires Back: Brady and Manning Feud Heats Up

Birmingham City welcome Wrexham to St Andrew’s on Monday night and Tom Brady is expected to be in attendance

Wrexham have stirred the pot and recruited another supporter ahead of their trip to Birmingham City on Monday night (KO 8pm). The Reds will visit St Andrew’s for a highly anticipated League One meeting in front of the Sky cameras in what has been dubbed in some quarters as the ‘Hollywood derby’.

Blues are expected to host minority shareholder and NFL great Tom Brady, as well as Wrexham’s famous owners Rob McIlhenney and Ryan Reynolds. They’ve also stoked the flames of an old American football rivalry in the lead up to the meeting.

Wrexham took to social media this week to unveil another multiple Super Bowl winner, Eli Manning, in their home shirt. They posted: “We are honoured that @Elimanning has coincidentally, (because Co-chairmen @RMcElhenney & @VancityReynolds begged him) joined the @Wrexham_AFC fanbase, just in time for our match over at @TomBrady’s @BCFC on Monday night.”

Eli is the brother of Peyton, who was at the heart of one of the greatest NFL rivalries, against Brady; the quarterback pair faced off against one another between 2001 and 2015, facing each other 17 times with Brady coming out on top on 11 occasions. The duo are considered to be among the best NFL players of all time, having won eight MVPs and nine Super Bowls between them.

Blues themselves responded to Wrexham’s tease by aiming a brotherly related dig back in Manning’s direction! They replied: “As we say in Birmingham, @EliManning – WHO! @TomBrady – not just the GOAT, also the best in his family. Levels to this.”
