X CONFIRMED; All Leeds staff outright deny offering Piroe to Sheffield United for the must reason
Sheffield United Gustavo Hamer has been identified by Leeds as a prime target and they’ve already had a £13m bid rejected.
It emerged that they returned with a second offer which included Joel Piroe as part of the deal and now Leeds staff have addressed those reports…
Leeds staff deny Joel Piroe has been offered to Sheffield United
Graham Smyth took to X this afternoon and confirmed that Leeds staff outright deny offering Piroe to Sheffield United as part of the deal to sign Hamer.
Piroe was named on the bench in Leeds’ last outing at Sheffield Wednesday and appears to have lost his place to young Matteo Joseph.
Evidently, since completing a £10m switch from Swansea City last summer, the Dutchman has failed to hit the heights expected of him, so it wouldn’t at all be surprising if The Whites are looking to offload him.
Gustavo Hamer could be a ticket out of the Championship
If Leeds were to succeed in their pursuit of Hamer, it’d send out a real statement of intent to the rest of the Championship.
The 27-year-old enjoyed a productive season on a personal level in the Premier League last term, registering 10 goal involvements.
The season prior, Hamer was named Coventry City’s Player of the Season, so clearly his arrival would put Leeds as title-favourites in the eyes of many.
A telling few hours await.
